Torquay going into administration

So, Clarke Osbourne steps away and the club are to go into administration.
Presumably a 10 point deduction.

They always come across as another badly run club. Good news for the likes of Eastbourne and Welling if there’s a points deduction. Perhaps  Torquay will invite Truro to use their ground now as they will need the money.

They’ve been abusing Osborne and Johnson for years and telling them to go. Now they’ve gone they’re being accused of deserting the Club. Torquay fans are heading for a huge reality check.

I think the problem with Torquay is they do not own their ground. So basically anyone prepared to take on ownership has no asset to cover any investment. Reading the Torquay forum what amazes me is that Torquay have had so much financial support from its departed owner.

Whilst having some sympathy with Torquay fans facing the possible loss of their Club they must accept to have benefited from having a high level of financial support that has given them an advantage compared with other league opponents. I suppose the same comment could be applied to Yeovil who ran up unsustainable debts and were then bailed out by the local council who bought their ground.

Only wish the Bath council would show some degree of support towards Bath City!

Using that argument you could say we've had an unfair financial support that has given us an advantage over others in the league.

Are we forgetting that the club has ~ £1.5m in debts, and it would be £1.8m if the bid had never happened, none of that money was the "clubs" so to speak, so without it we'd have had to cut our cloth accordingly or gone out of business.

All clubs at basically every level outside of the top flight (and probably the lowest reaches of non-league) are operating due to the largesse of a benefactor one way or another.

I accept we have significant debt levels as do many football and non-football businesses. Although it would be a last resort situation we do have ownership of Twerton Park that could be utilised to clear liabilities.
At the moment we appear to be able to sustain our debt levels but realise there may be a time when real problems arise.
I think the Torquay situation is probably going to occur more frequently over the next few years as those clubs who do not own their own grounds but have had backing from financial benefactors suddenly find that support begins to wane or even cease altogether.

We're going to donate 20% of profits from sales of a print / artwork (available via the BCFC club shop) to the Torquay United Supporters Trust Crowdfunder page. TUST said that funds raised through the crowdfunder will not be used to support the operational running costs of the current club which seems fair enough to me.
