We have had some good recent performances but tonight certainly wasn’t one of them.

Results not so good. Just 2 wins in 10 games.

Key few games ahead to keep the season alive.

Surprised so many players were off it tonight.

Hoping we can start again Saturday!!

Agreed, Pete, very disappointing tonight. Hopefully we’re back to our best for Saturday’s vital match.

What I found worrying tonight was everyone was way below the level they can play at. Hayfield had possibly his worse game in a City shirt, passing was miles off from everyone and for all the possession in wide areas we created maybe 3 clear cut chances that we spurned (a header each for Cooke and Wilson, and possibly one other.)

Thorn bless him is going to go down with Ben Seymour, Callum Rowe and other loan players that are clearly not going to make it higher up, he tried but his ability as a footballer is severely lacking, not sure what else City could have done though as we'd have needed to sub half to team to make any difference.

Fingers crossed we're better Saturday.

Can't make Tuesday games but at least we scored in 2024. Make or break this month I feel. Gotta dig deep. Lots of energy gone into the 2 derbies and Yeovil away. So energy levels probably low. Players aren't robots. Hopefully get some energy back for Saturday. Haven't checked fixtures but could do with no Tuesday game next week to re charge.

I agree with you about the players looking tired after Saturday's exertions. And as the manager explained in his interview, we can't expect any additions to the small squad. Fortunately we do have a free Tuesday next week before the ridiculously scheduled game at Weston seven days later. (If you're going to persist with a 24 team league, NL, then schedule more midweek games for August and September!) And February sees us playing on three consecutive Tuesdays.
Of course if we progress in the Trophy this will add to games being moved to midweek (beating Coalville will see the postponement of the Hampton trip)
It will be interesting to see when the Maidstone game will be rearranged for due to their Cup run. Presumably not before March as there's no midweek before when we're both free (unless we tell the Somerset and Kent FAs what to do with their county cups!)

Looking on the bright side, we must surely have avoided relegation.

Wow didn't know we had so many Tuesday games coming up. So were probably looking at a 55ish game season. Possibly 60 with Somerset Cup. We really need to try to lose in the 1st round of the Somerset Cup. Sadly our excellent average attendance record for the season will plummet due to ghastly Tuesday night fixtures.

What is worse is losing a Saturday game which is then rearranged to a Tuesday. Could be a difference of 600 fewer people through the turnstiles.

The poor quality was unfathomable. But why not use our bench if players are tired? Lines was the best player on the park by a country mile.

Not to mention the reduced food, drinks, programme and draw ticket sales.
What the hell does the NL think it's playing at increasing the league size.  It is an amateurish attempt by jumped up blazers to 'up the profile' of the league ie, themselves.  I'd be surprised if the clubs are happy about it.

Yes £15 X 600 = £9000. Add on drinks at bars as well. That's a lot of money. The FA Trophy prize money is much less than the losses. Been thinking about the ramifications of a 24 team league with these bleak mid winter Mid week games. Really is great commitment from all the part time players in our league.

Paul has highlighted the potential income loss but in reality the figures are not quite so severe. Our average gates include juniors, concessions and season ticket holders. I doubt there were many juniors there last night so their lost income has less impact.
Also admission prices include 20% VAT so using the £15 as a simple example the Club lose £12.50 and HMRC lose £2.50.
It's an interesting thought that every 6th person through the gate is potentially making a payment to HM Treasury. VAT is a complex area but it does have an impact on our finances.

Well the midweek fixtures with Weston, Taunton and Yeovil were well attended. Better weather and local teams of course. Sadly combo of cold weather, an unattractive team in Slough with respect, and coming off a couple of goalless poor results meant it was going to happen. Still a lot more than other clubs would achieve though.

Given the way we played it is just as well that we had a low attendance.
