So we lost £137k in the last financial year. I'm sorry that's outrageous. Absolutely. Who are these people coming in and getting us more into debt? And have you looked up the owners of Green whatever their name is developers - don't sound ethical to me.... Remind me how well Blomfeld did selling the idea of a new stadium for the rugby to the public? What was the budget forecast for that year? Did we plan for that loss, not that I recall....and if not what went wrong and why didn't we do something about it? All basic stuff around running a business that I've stopped offering to help with because it was declined and it seemed like at last there were professional people running the business. Will be interested to see the figures.
Just as with Manda they don't seem to like issuing detail.
And another thing, what times this fa cup draw and what stations it on?!

What is interesting is the amount of money the existing and previous directors of the club have put in to keep things going...

Please don't get me wrong I'm not complaining about those individuals, ndvthsts a completely different point. Having said that somevwere involved in deliberately losing £100k plus, knowingly, for each season we were in the conference premier. Although I respect these people immensely for risking their own money, I know they won't mind me bringing it up for discussion. We should be aiming to break even even if it means dropping down leagues for a few seasons .

Dodgycarpet - clearly this is a matter that has got you hot under the collar but I would hope that opinions could be expressed without becoming personal.

The club has lost money every year that I have been supporting it. The community buy out recognised that this would continue until they could get finances on an even keel. £137K represents a bigger loss than even that anticipated and the realisation has dawned that it is far more difficult to raise revenues than was hoped.

Hence the two fold attack on addressing losses. 1. Redevelopment. 2. The artificial pitch.

As far as I can see both are a minimum requirement for us to have a hope of staying at TP.  Or indeed existing as a club.

It is highly unlikely that dropping down the leagues would halt the losses because revenues drop off equally.

Could people please refrain from making personal comments. There is plenty to be said about the accounts without resorting to that.

Well said BenE....if this doesn’t show the need for the Redevelopment as well as astro pitch, I don’t know what does.

The link posted above only seems to give the accounts to May 2017, so not possible to see how we managed to lose £50000 more in 2018 than the year before - is there a link to the 2018 accounts anywhere?

Les, the 2018 accounts will be available once the audit is complete and they have been signed off, hopefully later this year.

Incidentally, Paul Williams was interviewed by Radio Bristol last Friday....

Apologies however it's not really "personal" if you're talking about someones professional activity or success. If one called someone a ninkumpoop or similar it would. However I did write it accidentally in a way that was a bit disrespectful so apologies to Mr Blomfeld if you're reading. However it remains feedback that communication with the public and empathy, may need a bit of working on. (Yes I know, do as I say not as I do, but I'm relaxing on a fans forum not in my day job!
Marc, I'll discuss when I bump into you probably Saturday, touch wood, though itll be harder hopefully with s big crowd!

More proactive and regular communication about the club's financial position is needed. We're in this for the long haul.

I'm sure you weren't deliberately getting his name wrong, but it's Blofeld not Blomfeld.

Good point Oliver. You only need to look at what happened to Chester to see how not to do it.

There may be mitigating factors as to why the loss is substantially worse than the previous year e.g. the supporters club could not help with travel but I think the club needs to be on top of the budget on a monthly basis.
We had a lot of loans last year and again this year even before suspensions and injuries take their toll on the squad. Frankie Artus is sitting out many games and that cannot be right.
It might be nice to have Tom Smith but can we actually afford him?

Just for the record....

While the SC did not fund the team's travel, as it had done for several years, it did cover the bill for the training facilities, over £10k last season.

Frankie Artus picked up an injury at Banbury and was unable to start today.

What does 'on top of the budget' mean?

Being on top of the budget means knowing exactly what financial position the club is in at any moment and reacting to it.
I realise the directors put a lot of hard work in with regard the budget but if it becomes evident that we need to cut costs part way through the season then that is what will have to be done.
If we drop out of the cups early then it has a big impact on what can be spent for the rest of the year.
Keeping the supporters on side might make those decisions easier.

I have it on good authority that when estimating budgets no account is made with regards to monies that may come in from cup competitions - very wise!
