Big Bath City Bid makes a splash at final city home game

Twerton Park opened its doors to the Big Bath City Bid for the club’s final home game against Sutton United. Volunteers in branded T-shirts handed out stickers and flyers and sold badges, raising almost £250 for the bid’s ‘fighting fund’. Many thanks to everyone who helped out - making the bid more visible is half the battle.

Get involved: posters, street stalls and shopfronts

Now that the football season is almost over, the next step will be to take the Big Bath City Bid into the city centre by running street stalls and shopfronts. If you are able to spend some time manning the stalls, please email bathcitycommunity@gmail.com. We have prepared a Q&A for all volunteers to help answer questions from the public.

We have also printed several hundred A4 posters to be put up around town in local pubs, cafes, shops, churches, businesses and community centres. If you can spare an hour to stick posters up in your local area, or if you would like to display a poster at your place of business, please email bathcitycommunity@gmail.com.

Prospectus to launch in May

In the course of researching the business plan, consulting with Supporters Direct and speaking to possible partners, the Big Bath City Bid has decided to launch the share prospectus in mid to late May rather than the earlier indicated timeframe of mid-April.

This is to ensure the best possible offer to the people of Bath. The more we’ve talked to people, organisations and businesses in Bath about what we hope to achieve, the more new avenues and new opportunities have arisen. We want to make sure that we make the most of the help available, and thank supporters for their patience.

City on Screen

Three filmmakers were at the ground on Saturday, shooting promotional and documentary films to support the bid. Director of football Adie Britten generously allowed cameras into the dressing room to film the half-time talk, and one of the filmmakers (who has previously worked with Crisis and Amnesty International) will follow the team to Staines on Saturday for the last match of the season. We hope to unveil the finished product in May!

Save the Date – Saturday 16 May “80s Disco” at Randall’s

The Big Bath City Bid’s first major fundraiser will be an “80s Disco” at Randall’s, to be held on Saturday 16 May. Journey back to the decade that fashion forgot and raise money to support the bid. We encourage all supporters to come along and bring their family and friends – more details to follow, but mark the date in your diaries.

Supporters Club pledges shares to community bid

The Bath City Supporters Club voted on Saturday to support the Big Bath City Bid by pledging to transfer its 11,000 shares in Bath City FC to the new community club if the fundraising target is reached.

Daniel Tanner, chair of the Supporters Club, said:

“We're pleased to get behind the community ownership bid and help secure the future of the club so it remains in the heart of the community for generations to come.”

The Bath City Supporters Society, meanwhile, voted unanimously to add an ‘asset lock’ to its constitution, guaranteeing by law that its assets cannot be used for private gain. The move will help the Society qualify for Social Investment Tax Relief.
