Is it just me that gets tired of watching centre backs and midfielders tapping the ball to each other endlessly? Men's football seems to have disappeared up a cul-de-sac. It was refreshing to see Canada play with a bit of self expression despite not having a compet5ent striker.

It’s not just at international level. Teams like Man City send me to sleep and clubs at all levels are trying to copy them without the required skills and composure to make it work.

And as usual there have been some very cautious approaches in this first round of matches. Roll on the ko stages.
