A terraced Bath end would be nice to have but should not tie the hands of the delivery team.

One issue mentioned at the meeting was the width of the pitch. If the pitch is levelled and the poplar side has a wide flat area as a consequence could a bit of this be used to make the pitch wider?
No, you won't widen the pitch because it's only at the toilet end that the terracing is lost. The other end won't be affected.

"And don't forget the air raid shelters at the Bath End!"

Or replant the Poplar trees at the back of the Popular side!

I made a recommendation for the Bristol end; it will stay the same, but certainly the pitch could be moved a few feet towards it, to give more chance for sorting out the Bath end.
At the moment, if we have segregation, we let the other fans have the Bristol end and the 'family' stand. As we will have only one new stand, this causes segregation problems - you would have to put the other fans in the Bristol end of the new stand and then block out a number of rows, to keep them away from the City fans.
The best solution is to continue to let the away fans use the recently strengthened Bristol end terracing for standing, and then put seats in the far side of the Bristol end for the away fans.  That section of terracing has very poor rails and very few are allowed to stand there.  We could fit at least 500 seats in that area, using the seats from the current stand. Volunteers, who originally put those seats into the current stand, would be able to do that job.
Re the popular side terracing - if you look at the roof, it is level, and you can then see how the current terracing follows the line of the pitch and goes down towards the Bath end. It would not be difficult to just raise all the popular side terracing to the level of the higher end. It would not reduce the number of steps and, if extra rails were installed, the number of people allowed on the popular side would be increased. (The tea bar would have to be rebuilt).
There needs to be consultation with the volunteers, who currently maintain the ground and make various improvements, to decide which bits of work could be done by the volunteers. This could save a lot of money.

This is a great point - and in general, it may be worth the club/Society widening the Redevelopment Working Group, or creating some sort of sub-group, to get more input on changes to Twerton Park itself

Very interesting point from Phil about the Pop side roof being level. I think wherever you stand in the ground it is difficult to picture the 8' drop from the Bristol to Bath end. But the picture below does show the difference.

We'll end up with a tapered poplar side. Which is fitting as poplars are kind of tapered.

I think Phil's suggestion regarding seating at the Bristol end has real merit. The one downside is the lack of cover. It's one thing standing in the rain but if you have to sit on a wet seat that is another matter. The cost of covering the area would be expensive although would a canvas type covering similar to Bristol Rovers be affordable.

A cheap option might be some sort of plastic bag to cover each seat that can be removed by the person using that seat. We could also consider leaving the seats uncovered but hire out a plastic cover at £1 a time that can be placed over the wet seat. The charge would be sufficient to ensure we could replace any that were taken away.

Yes - we had it seated temporarily when the stand had the fire.
Another thought - they said the new stand will be a storey higher than the current one. But...
a) it doesn't look it at all in the drawings especially pitch side
b) if it's 1000 seated and 1000 standing the full length of the pitch then mathematically the height must be narrow compared to the current stand and terracing height. What am I missing?

This puzzled me at first. The answer is that it ties in with the proposed club facilities at the Bristol end of the new stand. See artist impressions here...

I deliberately haven't joined in the debate of the various issues raised and suggestions made in this thread but I will raise them with the club.

Also please remember that there's the opportunity to respond by 4 March here...

I strongly urge supporters to do that as their views will then be on record, something which isn't the case with forum posts.

Thanks for posting this Comrade - the pictures are much clearer and more helpful than in earlier documents. One question they don't answer, however, is where the players will enter the pitch. There doesn't appear to be a tunnel in the centre of the stand, nor is there one at the Bristol End corner.

As I understand it, it is at the Bristol End as that is where the dressing rooms will be.

Yes this is well worth a look - it expires tomorrow, maybe the club can host it on the website?

Good promo for us. The images are actually a lot better than we saw on Thursday. The architect wanted to try to show the fly through but we had run out of time.
If they had run it at the start of the presentation it might have been a very different meeting.

The players will come out at the Bristol end of the new stand. The designers originally tried to bring the players on to the pitch in the middle as now but it didn't work in terms of the layout of the rest of the facilities.

I do like a long walk out like the old Wembley or Old Trafford. Builds the atmosphere as opposed to shuffling out as at most grounds.
New proposed grandstand looks great.
