If we had Lionel Messi....

Post by Peteboa on Mon Oct 26, 2015 7:47 pm

How often do you think Howell's would play him?

I reckon in about 70% of games.

I can hear the interview now "Lionel's got a lot to learn....He needs to track back and become more of a team player"

Anyone else wanna see the back of him?

Stubborn, uninspiring, predictable,  grudge bearing, next to no interaction with the fans, silence on our heroic attempt to save the club. Then there's the form....

You think we've got it bad? Just had a peek at Kiddie's forum after their FA cup humiliation in similar circumstances to our, ie against a more up for it lower league side.
16 pages of pure meltdown.

To answer your question. He'd get injured first game after coming on in the 80th minute, go out on loan to Chippnum and never be seen again.

I think many aspects of our club are in fine fettle. Is Howell's the man to galvanise the players to match the enthusiasm and positivity on the terraces?

Ah think not.

I reckon he'd be ever present completing 90 minutes every game.

Only downer is he would be picked as keeper...

He'd score 14 goals on his debut then never be seen again and end up at Larkhall 5 years later.

There are plenty. One small problem. What manager would work under Mr Britton?

I guess this thread is borne out of frustration with our current form and the fact Thursday's interview did not give us a straw to clutch at that things were going to improve. (plus Stearn's performance last Saturday).

I know the directors are very honest people and ardent Bath City fans but there is a sense that the club is drifting until something happens with the ownership one way or another. I hope the Bid can deliver, and the sooner the better.

Maybe this thread is just a bit of fun?

Not that I'd noticed.

I think there is a lot of truth in that. The club clearly can't afford another spell in the Conference Premier in it's current position. It must be very difficult trying to be positive under those circumstances. Certainly the feel good factor of the unbeaten August (when, of course, the "Stubborn, uninspiring, predictable, grudge bearing, next to no interaction with the fans, silence on our heroic attempt to save the club" Head Coach was the Conference South manager of the month) along with the public belief that the Big Bath City Bid would reach its target by the deadline, is now long gone. Now we've got a struggling teams, players leaving for various reasons and no likelihood of the club becoming community owned until after this season is over at the very earliest.

To my mind we all want the best for the club and frustration comes out in various ways - be it the opening post in this thread, sounding very downbeat in an interview straight after a defeat or, as it appears publicly, just letting the club drift.

Well my post was meant to be fun at least, and we've had a few players over the years who've looked good and disappeared (Mike Stephenson anyone?) (did I just compare Mike Stephenson to Lionel Messi?!).

Whatever anyone thinks of a club's manager you shouldn't ever change if you can't get anyone better in and I'm not sure we can with our budget and current financial position.

To me a simple demonstration that things are not drifting would be for someone to tell Archie he's not doing any more interviews.
