Day of Solidarity for Refugees - Twerton Park - Saturday 12th September

Post by SteveBradley on Fri Sep 11, 2015 6:20 pm

The refugee crisis has obviously been getting a lot of media attention over the last few weeks, and has concerned a great many people.

Tomorrow is English football's national 'Day of Solidarity for Refugees' - organised by fan groups across the country, and inspired by a similar initiative in Germany a few weeks ago. More info here : https://www.facebook.com/events/490047397839775/

As part of this, there will be a #RefugeesWelcome initiative at the Hemel game tomorrow. Run under the auspices of the Supporters Society, it will see a 'Refugees Welcome' banner on display at the game, and a collection of essential food and personal items that Bath-based charity CalAid will take to the refugees stranded in Calais.

More info about the initiative at tomorrow's game is here : https://www.facebook.com/events/1042952655749091/

I appreciate that not everyone will have the same view on the refugee crisis, but would kindly ask that anyone who wants to vent spleen about it do so via one of the numerous other online opportunities that exist to do so, rather than here.

Thanks.
