Not getting carried away of course but my pre-season confidence levels are higher than normal. Top 5/6 for me and I have put a tenner on an outright win at 20/1.....

We did a premiership prediction one year. How we laughed when one lad had Palace top because he supported them and Villa bottom because he had forgotten about them despite them being runners up the previous season.

That year Palace came third and Villa struggled all season only just avoiding relegation and he took the pot. You can work out what year that was.

Having said that when you look at this league there are a lot of 'on a par' teams, and it is generally money that talks (whether affordable or not).

But not in Spain last year, where Atletico stunned the money bagged big 2 by winning the league. an incredible team spirit, organisation and fitness were major factors - virtues which have paid dividends for us in the past and hopefully will again.

It's all very well being able to afford 'star signings' and paying them - but it can take until xmas for them to bed in.
