I was with Rob at Wetherspoons enjoying the seaview. The news that specialist equipment was being used was assumed to be that a member of the ground staff had been sent to Poundland for a box of sponges.

Saw a few comments from Weston fans on social media having a pop at us for also calling games off in the last minute frequently. They used Wellington in the SPC as a recent example, I believe both were postponed well before they would have travelled. I was going to join in with the argument but thought it'd be a waste of time and energy. Unlike this post...

From memory, I recall the following home matches being called off late:
Stafford in 2003, we appeared keen to play but their manager wasn't, was postponed after I was in the ground
Merthyr in 2006, an absolute deluge an hour before KO, was postponed at 2.45 I think
Bishop's Stortford in 2009, rained steadily until it hammered down from 6.30 onwards, was off around half hour before KO with the pitch looking like a swamp
WSM in 2010 for frozen pitch, seemed the referee was swayed by one party. Can't have been too last minute as I went along to watch Chippenham with Zack, managed to get in before KO. It was abandoned at half-time.

Against us there are loads, to name but a few:
Hendon in 1998 (I didn't go)
Grantham in 2002 (I didn't go)
Gateshead in 2012 (I didn't go)
WSM in 2013 (probably after 1 as we were en route, again I had time to go to Chippenham)
WSM in 2014 (I didn't go)
Truro in 2016 (Sam and I got as far as Launceston)
WSM in 2017 (I didn't go)

Clearly I'm quite good at predicting these things. That and the thought of going to Grantham with 'flu was about as tempting as sticking my hand in a food processor.
