In the first half there were glaring gaps in the middle of the field of play and I thought where is our central midfield. The "kids" play the ball around well, going out wide, finding feet and moving off the ball but lack a clinical final ball and cutting edge in the final third.  I was impressed with their work rate.

Jim marshalled them well.
Stinson man of the match for me but lots of other candidates.
Very Happy

Epic. Fantastic scenes, the relief on the players' faces when we survived a few attacks at the end was evident. They wanted that home tie with Shepton Mallet. Radstock were crestfallen.

The highlight of the night was arriving home from a midweek away game at 9.35pm.

Right - who wants to be guest programme editor for the Shepton game? Cool

What tiny little ones?

There were a few challenges that probably warranted it but I didn't notice any.

I'll happily write something for the programme Mark. Will it just be a sheet of A4 folded? or a proper programme?

Young lad at centre-back looks promising - Rollo I think his name was! Smile
Seriously though - Jimmer looked very comfortable back there (notwithstanding the opposition) and looked after the young lads brilliantly - always talking, always advising, with a few sharp words when required also. Not to mention a burst out of defence in the second half and an incisive through-ball to our onrunning left winger. He's still got it!

from the other Radstock thread...

yuffie wrote:Well, I would think the majority of the youth players would welcome the chance to represent the first team even if it is two days before a big cup game.

Yes, I would hope so. I'm frustrated when told that many of these youngsters choose to leave us in the search for regular football at lower level clubs - hence my still unanswered question 'what is the point of the academy and development squads?'

So did it look like anyone on show last night might at least fill those vacant spaces on our bench this Saturday? The keeper, for instance...

Josh Barrington, the keeper, plays for Bishop Sutton. I think he was on the bench for one of our cup games last season.

Perhaps the prize for the winner between you and Powell in Best of Three (if Frankie Artus ever replies) can be the role of Programme Editor for this auspicious occasion.

I mean to genuinely do the whole thing. I could write something myself in about two minutes, it's piecing together the A4 stuff that takes longer as I have to copy over tables/line-ups/create a shoddy front cover. Then sort for it to be printed. As I said if possible I will see if we can just print team-sheets because surely that's all most people are interested in? No-one will care what I have to say about beating Radstock. I'll keep in touch.

In the good old days all you used to get was a card with the teams on one side and adverts on the other. Isn't that all anyone really needs? apart from programme collectors.
