0-0 I think some work needs to be done on our striking options.

Re: City v Chelmsford
An entertaining game which either side could have won.
From a Bath City viewpoint there were a lot of positives:
Goalkeeper and defence look solid and both full backs get forward well.
Tom Smith had a good game but was not my man of the match, that accolade goes to Frankie.
A few changes may help the scoring drought:
Nick Compton is not a "no.10" and is far better out wide left leaving Andy wide right.
Nick McCootie is not a wide player nor is Nat Jarvis a centre forward on his own so the two of them need to be in the centre together.

Bloody hell, at the start of the season, we were scoring goals for fun and shipping goals. Now we are tight at the back and not scoring?

Well that was a long old grind of a game. Came out brightly, but began to fade as the game went on, and were lucky that Chelmo were wasteful in front of goal before the end.
I was surprised the management didn't try and mix up the attacking option towards the end, as Jarvis had run out of ideas and Lucas may have offered something different. But in the end I think we just about deserved the draw.
And where were you pair Ben-e and Marc? We were concerned as to your respective welfares.

Thought we played some great stuff first 20 mins and made Chelmsford look ordinary. My MOM was Straker for his first half performance. There is something lacking up top now Morgan has departed and I would be inclined to play McCootie as the target man with either Lucas or Jarvis playing off him. Not sure why Compton was taken off but his reaction to being subbed was worrying.

Thought it was a very bright start. Unfortunately it was clear mid way through the second half that we weren't going to score. I was waiting for a raft of changes that didn't happen and i felt that had two or three substitutions been made and some more attacking intent Chelmsford were there for the taking. Jarvis doesn't do it for me. Lots of chasing but little end product. They looked knackered at the end and not a team who were 1 goal away from a potential pay day and national coverage. Shame.

He lost it a bit after missing the penalty and his game dropped off. I expect his reaction was probably frustration with himself.

On holiday in sunny Sussex which is why I was hoping for an away tie with Bognor.
Went for a walk along the beach and then back to listen to BCIR.

On both the Chelmsford website and forum it states that their keeper saved the pen.
I'm sure that in the game I watched he got nowhere near the ball...is it me?

I initially thought save, but their radio people instantly said it hit the post, and a goal kick was given.

Where was Kaid Mohammad? Cup tied?
Overall though I was quite impressed. Always preferred it played on the deck and I think we look quite good at times. Struggled up front a bit with no killer instinct but on the bright side the defence/midfield/keeper played well and seems Smith is a very good player, fully deserving of MOTM, hope that carries on.
As mentioned though Chelmsford were there for taking and I think we should have won it.
One thing whatever though was that it was much more entertaining today. more exciting play, good atmosphere, good attendance.
Enjoyed it.

What was more annoying was after the ref spent what seemed like an age getting his linesman in position, talking to the keeper and then wandering over the edge of the box to spot ingress he didn’t spot that when Compton kicked it he was at least a yard off his line. Just go to Chris Stone fb page and his vid and freeze the frame at 11 Seconds.

Re: City v Chelmsford
The reason the ref spoke to the linesman was that one of the Chelmsford players scuffed up the penalty spot. I don't think either knew which one so couldn't do anything about it.
And I doubt if a single penalty these days sees the keeper stay on the until it's taken. It appears to be one of those things, like keepers holding the ball for more than 6 seconds, that is completed ignored.

Law 12.2 - An indirect free kick is awarded if a goalkeeper, inside their penalty area, commits any of the following offences:
• controls the ball with the hands for more than six seconds before releasing it
• controls the ball with the hands for more than six seconds before releasing it

Interesting. I'm pretty sure that law disappeared for a bit, so i'm not sure when it came back again.
