2-0. Monthe makes a right mess of a long ball and gifts a goal to Tarpey

The principle problems are only too evident. No one capable of scoring, too few scoring chances made at all, might as well get bladud to take penalties, and mistakes made at the back on a weekly basis.

But at least Manny is capable of lashing the ball with sufficient force to get it over the line now and again.

Re: Maidenhead away
From where I was watching, it looked like Artus was fouled. He was certainly upset by the award of a free kick against him and maybe the ref took exception to his response. The problem is that he is continually picking up cards early in games and then walking a tightrope. If anything the decision seemed to galvanise us and an equaliser wasn't unlikely.
Broom's absence was explained - what about McCootie's?

Re: Maidenhead away
2 opposing views on the missed penalty...
It made little matter, however, as Hunter sauntered up to the spot and hit a low, meek shot that Pentney barely had to stretch to his right for. (Chronicle)
The penalty wasn't a miss, it was a top class save from a well directed spot-kick.

For those not there yesterday, the first description is spot on. The only question for me was which was the worst, yesterday's or Morgan's effort at Ebbsfleet?

Re: Maidenhead away
Yesterday.
What's more galling is they both took far better penalties previously, then changed their technique. Hunter drilled his in the bottom corner against Gosport then basically passed it back to Pentney yesterday. Morgan against Potters Bar effortlessly lofted it in the top corner, then went all Fred Flintstone with the run-up and produced a shot Pebbles could have put more effort in.

Re: Maidenhead away
Wasn't much better at Twerton. A friend of mine was refereeing our Academy side yesterday and awarded City a penalty when they were 1-0 down.
Player stepped up and...hit the post. Well, not bad for us, I guess.
Still, they went on to win 5-1.

Re: Maidenhead away
A learned source tells me that 11 outfield players have missed a penalty for us since 2014. I assume he includes penalty shoot outs...

I did mine from the start of 2014, the rest of the above list is correct.
Chris Allen has an effort saved against Chelmsford in March 2014 in a 4-1 win.
Ross Stearn also skied one at home to Bromley in Jan 2014. We went on to lose 2-1.
Haven't looked but I think we've scored about another 4/5 in 2014 aside from those missed, probably all of them from Dave Pratt.

Re: Maidenhead away
So basically we've got a 1 in 2 chance of scoring from a penalty. Hopefully Tyler will be taking them while he is here.

Re: Maidenhead away
The one he scored against Weston only just squirmed in so I'm still not overly confident if he steps up!
From all my years of watching, I think only Jon Holloway and Marc Canham scored all their penalties, having taken a reasonable amount anyway.
I need to work out how to post that video of Scott Partridge's miss against Bedford with Martin Paul smashing into him in the rebound. Always makes me smile. Didn't at the time.

Yes I thought Tyler scored others but checking it was actually Kelly.
