Chipping Sodbury friendly...
...now clashes with the Wales semi-final. Open that extra turnstile.

Re: Chipping Sodbury friendly...
One of the best games in the Euros, action and Welsh passion all the way.
Too many to mention on Facebook and Twitter but special mention to Gethin Jones on holiday in Greece and Adrian Harris "in heaven".
Maybe a rearrangement of the Chipping Sodbury game...I can't see many going, sorry.

How appropriate that the Welsh fans were singing 'are you watching England?' I hope every member of the FA was - maybe it occurred to them that chucking their vast reserves of cash at a problem is very unlikely to solve it.

Not sure why. I can't imagine there is anyone who thinks it is a game they must go to (even from the CS side) so if they're prefer to watch two international teams playing on TV then fair enough.
Even if England were playing then I don't see any reason why the game wouldn't still be played.
And, as an aside, our only current Welsh(ish)* player probably won't play after going off after 18 minutes today!
*I think he was born in Gloucester

I wasn't the only one who thought another night in front of the TV was probably going to appeal in this instance more than a non competitive game in Chipping.

I think a lot of City fans think that even if it was back to back Come Dine With Me (or some such garbage) rather than football!

Shame, cos Sodbury's a smashing, friendly little club, and I was looking forward to revisting it. They've had a bit of a run these last few seasons, and were playing some decent football when I saw them last November.
They also play in black and white stripes, so it would have been another of those entertainingly confusing nights for us, too.

Where did the idea come from that fans are needed for friendlies? Glorified training sessions.

Fans aren't necessarily needed, but can be a handy fundraiser for the early part of the season, and I for one enjoy going along to see what the new boys and trialists might be like, and to see if we're adopting any new styles of play - which is especially interesting with it being the first new season under the new regime.
