New midfielder
Gaffer continues to be busy:
City have signed attacking midfielder Liam Kelly on loan for a month from Championship side Reading. The 20-year old has come up through the youth ranks at the Madejski Stadium and has also represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-17 and Under-19 level. He will go into the squad to face Sutton United tomorrow.
Matt Coupe has played his last match for the club having decided to retire from football. Matt returned to Twerton Park just before the start of the season to assist the club, came off the bench in our first league match and played his part in our excellent start to the season. Now, with increasing work commitments in his business, he considers it fitting to end his career at Bath City and we thank him for all his has done for the club in his two spells here and wish him well for the future. In total Matt played 336 games for City, scoring eight times.
City have rearranged their away game against Truro City for Tuesday 15 March (ko 7.45pm).

Re: New midfielder
Seems a great recruit. Looking forward to seeing him play.
Coupe got us out of a hole this season. It was good to have him back especially as he had clearly worked hard to get fitter. Shame he didn't make more appearances. If only we could find a younger version.

2nd one brings back memories of this iconic free kick...

In those days most matches were not filmed - luckily this one was one of 2 appearing on MOTD that evening. Otherwise no one but the lucky ones present would have ever seen it.

Strictly speaking, it was more like this one from February 1994
It sprang immediately to mind as I was stood behind the goal into which it was scored.

Re: New midfielder
The Willie Carr flick up was banned a few weeks afterwards. You aren't allowed to have two feet on the ball at the same time from a free kick any more which his why Le Tissier had to do it that way - and presumably Kelly has been watching old videos.

Re: New midfielder
Kelly had a great touch and will be good going forward. However his youth and stature meant he wasn't so comfortable with the idea of tackling.
