City’s Under-21 captain Billy Murphy has joined Bath City on a month’s loan.

The versatile midfielder, who can also operate in defence, teams up with former City player and coach Gary Owers at Twerton Park.

Murphy arrived at Ashton Gate in the summer of 2014 having been spotted by Brian Tinnion playing for Hereford United, where he broke into the first team in the Conference.

Now the 19-year-old will temporarily return to non-league football with the Romans, currently 17th in the Conference South.

The deal will expire on Sunday, March 6th after a total of eight league matches.

Given the number of injuries we have this is inevitable. But we have needed a defensive midfielder desperately. Artus and to some extent Kington need to be given more license to get forward.

It will be interesting to see how many of our existing midfield are still being selected in a month's time. If the new manager saw our last performance at TP I would guess they would need to quickly prove they have more to offer.
