Mark Collier

Post by Citylink on Wed Jan 27, 2016 10:50 pm

so I've mentioned a few times to no response. Collier took Supermarine from bottom of South West League into the Premier and helping them to a 10th place finish beating us in the F.A Cup over 2 legs before resigning and then taking Chippenham from relegation into now 2nd in the League. Good things are being heard and on there forum the fans are saying how good the football is. They're 15 miles down the road. His assistant is Tom Jones who has played professional and has coached at the highest level. What do people think. Personally I feel it's a no brainer. We take someone currently succeeding in management.

He / They sound like a good fit, his dilemma is whether he could get to this level with Chip and then kick on.

They may be a good appointment but don't see a move to Twerton would be particularly attractive to them at this time. At Chippenham they have a Chairman who is backing them financially and they are doing well. We are struggling big time, have financial problems and the future is uncertain until the Bid and associated proposals are sorted out.
Also the combined wage for the 2 of them would be, I imagine, considerably more than it was costing for Adie / Howells. As with some other names who have been mentioned I think they are also beyond our resources, unless of course you know someone prepared to come up with some cash.

Succinctly put SteveS. We'll keep them if it's all the same to you Citylink Wink

Two years ago they came in and kept us up. Last season was more of a consolidation season after years of decline, and now this season we're seeing the benefits of some careful building. Still some way to go but it goes to show you need at least three years in the job to get anywhere near where you want to be. Not many, especially at a much higher level of course, get three months. It'll be interesting to see who you get in. I sincerely hope you stay up, whether we go up or not.

You may like the "dream ticket" of Collier, Jones and Sandell but given your financial plight you couldn't afford them, nor, for once would you be seen as the more attractive prospect. As for Sandell as player-manager, he's only joined us to be closer to the stabling business he runs with his partner, doubt he's be interested.

However...if you want an ex-Chippenham manager as your new boss, I'd like to recommend Mr Nathan Rudge, appoint him and you'll be united, as to why the ***** was he appointed!!! We were lol.

Good luck for the rest of the season, we hope to be visiting Turnip Park soon,be like old times especially if the kids chuck stones on us.
