City v Concord
Team is Phillips, Bowman. Coupe, Batten, Gallinagh, Benny, Kington, Williams, Nick, Watkins, Artus. Subs Richards, Greenslade, Hemmings, Pratt. Well, not exactly throwing the kitchen sink at it from the off are we?

Lost 0-1. ATT 576, pretty amazing given run of form. So how was Jimmers job application?

Interesting interview on internet radio with Paul Williams post game. Many applicants for role, though not clear what that is, presume manager now. Could be that the best one not available until next season. Any sightings today??

From Matchat - Sam BCIR : Gary Owers is in the crowd apparently. Spotted by Stillman Junior.
From live interview at 5pm - Paul Williams says "all things are possible" and discussions with applicants starting Tuesday, so we will wait and see.

Re: City v Concord
Apparently Laird was there. Whoever gets the job has a hell of a job lifting this team. They showed some fight in the second half after yet again making a slow start. But even such a modest team as Concord were able to hold on to their slender lead with some ease. Very depressing.

I assumed that with me coming back to France today that the winning form would return. Sadly not. Best of luck at Eastbourne.....I think we will need it.comrade powell wrote:Apparently Laird was there. Whoever gets the job has a hell of a job lifting this team. Re: City v Concord
I can confirm that Gary Owers was there today....Thought we put a lot of effort in today but a combination of wasteful finishing and good keeping kept us out. Thought Andy Watkins was outstanding today and ran himself to a standstill.Dan Bowman also quality again. It is worrying though that we lost to Concord who had little to offer but an appetite for hardwork. These are the sides that we need to beat if we are going to stabilise our league position.

Dont think we can judge jim just yet but i feel this job requires someone with management experience. Performance was improved but we need more i feel. Chips won again 3-0 im still calling for Collier. And Sandell scored 2 so lets take him aswell.

Re: City v Concord
Quite agree about Watkins and Bowman. We are painfully slow and ponderous as a team and these two provide most of our creative outlets. Concord weren't the only team below us to win today and Eastbourne's decisive victory over Wealdstone is a bad omen for next Saturday.

Re: City v Concord
A much better performance. The players, and indeed the management, cannot be faulted for effort. But all the failings were there to see.
concorde were mediocre at best, but despite a much more spirited performance, we could have played all night and not scored. We actually carved out plenty of good chances but there is no confidence in front of goal. We were virtually camped in their half for the second half but chance after chance went begging. Meanwhile if Concorde had had anything about them at all our defence would have presented them with plenty of chances to increase their lead. As it was thay were happy to sit back and let us huff and puff.
However I saw a lot of positives in the game, if we can rediscover our scoring boots the results will turn round.

Re: City v Concord
Lots of the ball once again, especially second half - but did any of us actually believe we were going to score? I did not and neither I suspect did the players and that's a big part of the problem. They have no belief, no one is prepared to take responsibility and they are always looking to pass and put that responsibility onto someone else.
We need a new face in the dressing room quickly, as every game goes by we are slipping further into the mire. Please not Owers. We need someone who knows something about this league and is used to working with a middle of the road budget and has knowledge of the local scene. If Craig Laird is interested go and get him, and before next Saturday.

CITY v CONCORD
If we had played the team that finished today we may have got a result.Pratt has to be first choice not McCootie who adds nothing to this team .He is not up to this level.I cant count the number of missed opportunities today by mis kicking or bad control of the ball.Watkins and Bowman were great today ,as were most of the team but we lack that cutting edge.Hope to see Eliot Richards start with Pratt and Watkins as this was our best spell of the game.Overall encouraging, I feel just needs a new manager with different ideas and tactics.

Re: City v Concord
At least McCootie was having shots. The rest of the team were trying to walk the ball in the net. We had three really good chances that should have been put away.
McCootie first half , Watkins and especially Williams second. Plus Richards header and Artus at the end were good chances spurned.
I thought Williams had his best game for us and was unlucky to be substituted.
I thought Jimmer had them playing with a higher tempo but we are hampered by the narrow team set up as usual.

Re: City v Concord
very frustrating day
could not break down the slowest defence i have seen this season
there keeper was good thou
why was Kington not subed i will never know
if he had a blue shirt on he would of been my mom as he passed to them more than a player with black and white shirts on
they are the worst team i have seen this season and we still lost to them

That was the same McCootie who decided to lay the ball off to Williams when just yards from goal in the second half? Williams seemed so surprised to received the ball that he understandably fluffed his effort.

Re: City v Concord
Having not seen us in a couple of months I was largely encouraged by what I saw. Watkins and Bowman were brilliant, the players gave it their all and were visibly gutted at the end - something I haven't seen for a while. We clearly lack a leader and some solidity but we have more than enough quality to do well at this level. Concorde, as others have said though, were really poor and it's another bad result

Depressingly awful. Need the new manager and some hungry players urgently.
On our way down otherwise.

Re: City v Concord
Might have been different today if we hadn't gone 0-1 down. With all the changes at the club this week the first goal was vital. A much better performance than Dartford, more fight and more effort.
We do give the ball away an awful lot though, not only does it stop the attacks but plays us into trouble.
Finally, an infuriating referee today who played advantage at all the wrong times and gave some bizarre free kicks. At least he got the 5 added minutes right with all the timewasting.

Concord's number 6 was about as mobile as me the morning after my 30th birthday celebrations.

Re: City v Concord
We all agree Concord were poor, but still they had enough to beat us. Its the same old story. The ref could have added on 60 minutes and we still would not have scored.
As has been said we are a very narrow team and that makes it easy for teams like Concord to defend. I thought the effort was there but we need to get a new manager in this week. Bowman does well but his final ball lets him down - if this was better he probably would not be playing for us.

We lost again.
Not hungry enough pete.
No real fight and no belief on that pitch. No leadership and no winners. Need real change quickly or we are playing at Yate again.
